What database servers does SQL Delta support?

Currently we support Microsoft SQL Server 7 and 2000. Although we are working on plug ins to support Microsoft Access, Oracle, Sybase and other database vendors.

Will SQL Delta find missing indexes?

|

Yes and you can automatically add the missing indexes.

I'm comparing an Microsoft SQL Server 7 database with an Microsoft SQL Server2000 database. Will SQL Delta update my Microsoft SQL Server 7 database correctly even if I have used Microsoft SQL Server 2000 specific features such as user defined fields?

Yes and the batch scripting process supports dependencies.

How do I stop comments in Stored Procedures being highlighted as a difference?

Open the Options Screen and check the ignore comments check box.

I need to report a summary of changes before I run any script, does SQL Delta do this?

Yes, the Print Preview Screen allows you to print or export the results of a comparison.

Can I run my scripts directly from SQL Delta?
|
|
|
|
|
Yes. You can also view and copy the script prior to running using the Script Manager. It is advisable to backup your database prior to running any script.

Does SQL Delta backup my database?
|
|
|
|
|
No. Backing up a database often requires specific knowledge about how backups are normally
processed, eg. to tape, disk, cd, etc. For this reason we notify the user prior to running
any script that a backup is required. We also recommend
the databases be backed-up prior to using SQL Delta to ensure accidental changes can be
recovered.
Please consider where you have various people working on a database and making changes that
bulk script processing may create unintended problems by overwriting the changes of others.

How do the summary sections work?
|
|
|
|
|
The summary view in the left top corner provides an overview of changes between
database structure objects such as table, view, etc. You can use the summary
to filter your results information, just click the desired icon to apply
the filter.
